Therapy

Therapy is a process by which you and, in some cases, other important people in your life can discover solutions to the problems you face. By talking about your problems with a skilled and appropriately trained therapist, you can discover new ways to understand your difficulties, develop new skills to help you cope with life's demands, improve your relationships with the people around you and learn to feel and function better. More importantly, you can learn a lot about yourself as a person, find ways to better meet your own emotional needs, set and achieve personal goals and live a more satisfying life.

Family and Couples Therapy
Families can face many types of difficult circumstances.  When problems or crises arise that exceed a family’s ability to successfully meet the challenges they face, professional help may be necessary to ensure the appropriate resolution.  Our licensed clinicians will evaluate the family history and current pattern of interactions in order to diagnose both the sources of the problems at hand as well as the behavioral patterns that maintain those problems.  Once the treatment needs of the family have been assessed interventions will be designed to ensure the family has the greatest chance of improving the interactions between family members. Improved interactions will help all family members function more effectively both within the family and outside of their home.

Individual Therapy

One of the cornerstones of mental health treatment is individual therapy.  Center for Family Guidance, PC has provided individual therapy to many different types of individuals for many years.  Our clinical team includes Board Certified Psychiatrists, Licensed Psychologists, Advance Practice Nurses, Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Licensed Professional Counselors.  Our clinicians utilize a variety of approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, family therapy, psychodynamic therapy, play therapy (for younger children) and Virtual Reality therapy.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is a very effective form of therapy.  Group sessions can be geared towards the treatment of specific areas of difficulty such as Post-Partum Depression, anxiety and bereavement. Center for Family Guidance, PC also offers groups to help improve adaptive skills.  Social Skills groups are offered to help children improve their ability to effectively interact with others.  Groups for children are organized according to the age and developmental levels of the children.
