Paint Your Mind Art Therapy
"Paint Your Mind" is a new Art Therapy group being offered at the Center for Family Guidance. This group focuses on enhancing verbal and non verbal expression of children with emotional struggles. The goals for ‘Paint Your Mind’ are:
- Enhance positive emotions
- Increase verbal and non verbal expression
- Learn new coping methods
- Teach decision making & follow through
- Have fun!
- Anxious
- Depressed
- Low in self-esteem
- Learning difference/disabilities (e.g. Dyslexia)
Warm up activities
Children will get an opportunity to express how they are feeling that day with words and squiggle drawing.
Project of the day
Each session will have a new project such as colleague, self portrait, etc.
Show and tell
Children will have the opportunity to show their work and express how they feel about it.
Give your child a new and creative outlet!
This interactive group gives kids the opportunity they need to express themselves when words aren’t enough. No artistic skills required, just a mind that needs expressing. If your child has a hard time talking about what is making them sad or anxious, then this is the group for them. ‘Paint your mind’ is a group that focuses on reducing anxiety and depression through artistic expression (no artistic skills needed).
We have projects for everyone:
- Build a bird house
- Hopes & dream colleague/painting
- Paint with your hands
- Just squiggle draw
- And Much Much More!!!!
- Classes are held at the CFG Westampton Office - Address: 116 A Burrs Road, Westampton, NJ 08060
- Ages for each group: K through 2nd grade; 3rd through 5th grade; 6th through 9th grade

About Group Therapists
Susan C. Finley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She is also Behavioral Cognitive therapist.
Elise Finley is a Graduate of the Richard Stockton College of N.J. with a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and a Minor in Studio Art. She is pursuing a Masters Degree in Art Therapy.
